I tried importing as a single mesh. The problem is with the torus. I haven't run into that problem again and I think it had to do with how the model was layered in Modo. I opened the same obj just fine in Sculptris, as an import. http://rlegsoftware.com/3ds-max/3ds-max-polygon-index-error.php

Terms & Privacy. just remember the size issue. OBJ supports negative indices. so the torus faces in your sample has to start from vertex 27 because the last vertex of the sphere is 26.
