Nov 12 Insufficient Disk Space Hi, I'm playing on a Macbook Pro with a very small SSD and only had about ~10 GB of disk space on the SSD that WoW is installed on. However, starting today whenever WoW is open, this space is rapidly depleted and wow freezes when this is complete. I am sure this is related to WoW since this space is returned a few minutes after I close WoW and bnet. Thanks for any help!Ayrithialya4 Nov 12
Hi John, Thank you for your expertise and, more important, for your kindness because they make me, almost, look forward to my next computer problem. After the next problem comes, I'll be delighted to correspond again with you. I'm told that I excel at programing. But system administration has never been one of my talents. So it's great to have an expert to rely on when the computer decides to stump me. God bless, Bill

I have had my eyes on a Macbook for the longest time now but that pricing at Best Buy (no different than the Apple Store) was just too much for a 13" & on top of that, there's the tax! I hadn't even thought about buying it online but it hit me one day to look on Amazon and I am SO glad that I did. The pricing for the exact same product here in store (and without tax!) is CHEAPER. I saved SO much money buying this Macbook here on Amazon and I do NOT regret this purchase one bit! I DID think about it a lot and read every last review and looked at all the product pictures (which were all good) and I'm glad to say that I also got a BRAND NEW PACKAGED BY APPLE MACBOOK AIR 13.3 INCH LAPTOP! It was sealed shut in the original Apple packaging brand new! Everything is running smoothly, no problems whatsoever (though I am VERY nervous of leaving a scratch or something on it so I bought a rubberized case & carrying case to keep it safe & looking new!)

Nov 2 Long loading screens & lag, why? I have been having long loading screens and lag since I downloaded the classic wow demo. Is this normal? I don't have lag since I got this new iMac. Should I just uninstall the demo or is there something else I can do? relatively easy since I am a not that smart when it comes to technical things on a computer. please help... :(Gitty0 Nov 2

6d Game unhides itself Hi everyone, For the past week or two (probably since the original 8.0 patch, but maybe one of the minor updates since then) I've had an issue where the game will sometimes unhide itself. What I mean by this is that I can press Cmd-H as usual to hide the game and show the desktop, but then a short time later the game may reactivate itself as if I'd clicked its dock icon. If I use Cmd-Tab, therefore keeping the game visible, then this issue does not occur. Has anyone else run into this? I'm on 10.12.6 with a GTX 960.Melcene12 6d

Nov 1 External GPU case for new versions of MBP Good evening US folks from Russia, with love! I run wow on the latest version of MBP available, yet I have to admit that I'm not any happy with a framerate while doing even 20man raids (30-man raids are a total disaster). I don't really want to buy a PC and prefer to stay with Apple stack, since WoW is the only game I play nowadays, so I want to do something about it. According to iStat Menus logs, my CPU usage of my i7-3820hq is never getting above 60% when I'm raiding, so the bottleneck should be my GPU (Radeon Pro 560). I do agree that running game on retina display is a bit too much for this adapter which could be barely considered as a gaming card, but also I'm happy with how smooth the picture is and don't really want to lower my resolution. So I decided to go with GPU case idea, and now I'm really lost, since it looks like there's no standard and many companies sell a lot of devices, some are compatible with Apple devices, and some aren't. So I have a two questions: 1) Will GTX1060-level GPU will be enough for smooth ~60+ FPS in raids (medium settins, projected textures on, shadows off) on 15-inch MBP display (2880 x 1800 resolution)? Or should I get 1070 instead? 2) What about built-in display support? I don't really want to keep another monitor around the house, so I'm not ready to consider options with no built-in display support, unless there's none of them. 3) Am I right that nVidia driver support on macOS is a bit 'hackey' and unofficial right now, and it's better for me to buy Radeon instead? 4) Most important, is there anyone on this forum who uses new (2016+) version of MBP with external GPU case and could just tell me which device to buy? This is the most interesting thing for me, since on web, I found a few videos of eGPU being used with 2013 version of MBP, but I never saw 2016 one. So anyway, looking for any option which is below $700-800 total (assuming I should buy both eGPU case + graphic card), hoping that there is any viable solution for me instead of buying PC which I don't really need for anything but raiding.Belthaar12 Nov 1
Apple includes a one-year limited warranty with all hardware so if there’s a manufacturing defect, you’ll be covered. To also protect against accidental damage, plus extend the original warranty for longer and enjoy free tech support, you can opt to purchase AppleCare+. Here’s what it is, what it covers, and what you can expect to pay. Is AppleCare+ worth it? Only you can decide for your own situation, but this should be everything you need to know to make a smart choice.
I had occasion to use customer support this week after my family gifted me with an IPad. I had difficulty with accessing after setting it up. I didn't catch the gentleman's name but I found his explanations way too fast and his tone arrogant, despite my telling him I was a senior and needed patience. I sat through a lengthy discourse on the difference between a password and a postcode, and I remained locked out. I think his telling me to hang up, sit back, relax and meditate and the password would come to me was his giving up. I give the service a zero. Once I can figure out how to reset the thing it will be going back.

If you are an IT rookie they will tell you what you want to hear. Just try one time to ask a question about the SSL problem from Feb 2015, and they do an about face. In August 2015, my MacBook got hacked with the same SSH Cross Site Scripting using the Man-In-The-Middle. When I called Apple, they were dead silent. Dissembling, misdirecting, obfuscating, worst of all no help. Denied it had anything to do with "Apple" but refused to offer even the simplest of suggestions on how I can prevent it in the future. How do I know if I have the SSL fix in MBP? Well I can't because the SSL problem was in iOS. I went to the developers website and found the same iOS SSL is part of Yosemite. So again, misdirection and lies.
Nov 2 New MacBook Pros Announced at October Even Will be upgradeable to Vega 16 and 20 GPUs https://www.google.com/amp/s/arstechnica.com/gadgets/2018/10/apple-to-offer-macbook-pros-with-amd-vega-graphics-starting-in-november/%3famp=1 Was wondering how that would translate to playing WOW - how much would one be able to push the graphics at native resolution with those cards and get smooth FPS? To the Apple rep here. Worked in IT and hated my monthly rotation when I tested as a cust. supp. level 2 rep. It is stressful and I agree - be prepared to wait or have Apple call back. When I was looking for a job, I considered cust. supp. for a brief time and warned my spouse I'd be stressed out if I took the job, so again, I understand. But I'm a user and this is different.

Don't rely on it being preserved. Many repairs require Apple to replace or reformat the hard disk, which will result in the loss of your data. Please make sure you back up your data on a regular basis to minimize your data loss. Apple and its AASPs are not responsible for any damage to or loss of any applications, data, or other information stored on your MacBook Air while performing service.
You have the option to get onsite service coverage for two or three years from the date of your hardware purchase. If you have a hardware issue during that time, AppleCare for Enterprise will help get you back up and running quickly. IBM’s Global Technology Services, a worldwide Apple Authorized Service Provider, will provide onsite service within the next business day.
When I tweeted — from my secret social-media account used to hide my identity as a reporter — for help about Spectre and Meltdown, Apple responded a short 10 minutes later. The company also included the correct information (update macOS on your Mac, and you're OK), along with a link to documentation on Apple's site that explained the situation in greater detail.
