The reverse of the state quarters feature the year minted and one of the 50 unique state designs. My grandpa got himself into the same situation, by paying way too much, but it happens. The existence of a few State Quarter errors is not hard to imagine, especially when one takes into consideration the billions of them that were minted. Voted up!

I heard they are rare with any steps but im not sure. Die cracks are common State Quarter errors. As the market is still fairly young, values for these types of errors will vary greatly but could be worth $5-300+ depending on what you have. It's hard to put a value on such a coin, but it is worth something!
