Much like Apple handles support calls over the phone, soon only customers within their warranty period will be able to access online chat support through getsupport.apple.com for free. For others, Apple will charge what it refers to as a “pay per incident” fee or require the purchase of an extended warranty through AppleCare. Previously all online support chat features were available for free to users worldwide. Some users might have noticed back in August when Apple revamped its support sites that it started listing a $19.99 per incident fee for chat support. However, up until now AppleCare hasn’t actually been charging users to access the feature.
Before rolling out the paid chat support, Apple had to develop a new web payment system that would allow it to accept payments through chat and keep user info secure when transferred between support agents, according to our sources. Using the new web payment system, we’re told Apple plans to offer the ability to set up hardware repairs and replacements that require a hold on a credit card or pay per incident fee via chat support. Rather than having to call in, users will be sent a link that’s live for 24 hours in order to complete the payment.
To gain optical drive features, users could either purchase an external USB SuperDrive or other brand, or the bundled Remote Disc software, only for browsing or software installation to access the drive of another computer wirelessly[45] that has the program installed.[46][47] It can also be used to reinstall the system software from the included installation DVD. Remote Disc supports NetBooting, so the Air can boot from its installation DVD in another computer's drive, which requires Remote Install Mac OS X to be running on that computer. The software does not allow playback or information of DVDs, CDs or installing Windows.[45] For these features, an external USB drive is required.[45] More recent versions of OS X replaced the installation DVD with a USB flash drive containing the software, eliminating remote installation.
I have had my eyes on a Macbook for the longest time now but that pricing at Best Buy (no different than the Apple Store) was just too much for a 13" & on top of that, there's the tax! I hadn't even thought about buying it online but it hit me one day to look on Amazon and I am SO glad that I did. The pricing for the exact same product here in store (and without tax!) is CHEAPER. I saved SO much money buying this Macbook here on Amazon and I do NOT regret this purchase one bit! I DID think about it a lot and read every last review and looked at all the product pictures (which were all good) and I'm glad to say that I also got a BRAND NEW PACKAGED BY APPLE MACBOOK AIR 13.3 INCH LAPTOP! It was sealed shut in the original Apple packaging brand new! Everything is running smoothly, no problems whatsoever (though I am VERY nervous of leaving a scratch or something on it so I bought a rubberized case & carrying case to keep it safe & looking new!)
Steve Jobs introduced the first MacBook Air during a speech at his keynote at the 2008 Macworld conference held on January 15, 2008.[6] The first-generation MacBook Air was a 13.3"-only model, initially promoted as the world's thinnest notebook[7] (1.94cm MacBook may be compared with 1.98cm for a previous record model, 2005's Toshiba Portege R200[8]). It featured a custom[9] Intel Merom CPU and Intel GMA graphics. In late 2008, the CPU was updated to a faster, non-custom Penryn CPU and integrated Nvidia GeForce graphics while the hard drive capacity was increased and the micro-DVI video port was replaced by the Mini DisplayPort.[10] A mid-2009 refresh, introduced alongside the MacBook Pro family, featured a slightly higher-capacity battery, and a faster Penryn CPU.[11]
As a former AppeCare representative I can't stress enough how difficult this job really is. We have to deal with angry customers who waited too long on the line, give accurate information about endless features and provide an instant resolution. It is mentally exhausting and would take anyone I know into the paths of a breakdown. Now imagine when new products or software are launched. We are given a set of trainning modules to perform on a given amount of time, as per Apple recommendation. Now, what a lot of people are unaware of, is that only a few call centers are actually managed by Apple directly. Other centers are paid by Apple to train people as per their standards, but in the end of the day this is a business we are talking about, so the larger the amount of calls taken daily equals more monney for these centers. Basically, forget the trainning, we are just pushed by our local managers to do these modules as fast as possible because we are needed to take more calls. There is never time to breathe or learn anything.
You can be rest assured the agent that you work with has been technically trained, certified, and his performance and perks based on what he delivers to you. Our employees excel at their careers through ongoing technical training and the pursuit of excellent service. All support agents are required to obtain Apple® and Microsoft® certifications prior to commencing support.
Apparently Apple owns this blog page because is certainly doesn't portray the truth about Apple customer service. I bought my first and last apple product a year ago an IPad Air 2. I had a variety of issues with shutting down instantly, the power cord failed after six months, I was told I had to buy a new printer if I wanted to print using the IPad. Customer service was useless each time I called which was many. I believe Apple deletes most negative reviews from the web and portrays a false perception that Ipads are prefect and loved by everyone. Its total crap!!
Nov 12 Insufficient Disk Space Hi, I'm playing on a Macbook Pro with a very small SSD and only had about ~10 GB of disk space on the SSD that WoW is installed on. However, starting today whenever WoW is open, this space is rapidly depleted and wow freezes when this is complete. I am sure this is related to WoW since this space is returned a few minutes after I close WoW and bnet. Thanks for any help!Ayrithialya4 Nov 12
Oct 31 Spec help Hi, The specs on the system requirements page confuse me, because they don't match up to anything on the Apple website. If I bought a basic 27' iMac today, would it be good enough to run the game, or just be bare minimum? Do I need the full boat i7 processor $2500 iMac? Is that even good enough? I have considered PC, but I don't like them. I have always had Macs, always been happy with them. And from what I can tell a PC with required gear will cost as much as a Mac anyway.Sixenn5 Oct 31

Still, to buy AppleCare+ after the fact you generally have to run a diagnostic test on the device in question, so Apple knows it’s in good working order. And no matter when you buy your AppleCare+ plan, the coverage starts from the day you bought your device. So you don’t get an “extra” two months of coverage if you wait two months to buy the plan.
While utilizing your MacBook Air, you will regularly see that the applications are solidified. This issue by and large emerges because of constant use of an application. To determine this issue, you can restart the application that you are working with. In the event that the application is totally inert, discover the application on your Dock and right tap on the symbol to raise the power quit alternative. Presently restart the gadget and check whether the issue is settled or not. On the off chance that the application still stops, check for updates. Introduce the updates effectively to dispose of this blunder. Another choice to determine this issue is to shutdown the gadget totally.
Awesome, responsive service.  Could not be happier with how timely, knowledgeable and friendly Shiva was.  He showed up when promised, kept me appraised of what he was doing, and worked very efficiently.  We had our new system up and running in no time - including a large transfer of data from an old system.  I would recommend Shiva and this company without hesitation.
“Prior to the laser we fabricated all our components on the turret press or on manual machines. The operations required hours of cleanup. Punch-formed parts and louvers are reserved for our existing turret punches but the laser has taken on 90 percent of the workload with minimal cleanup. We’ve been able to reclaim that time and move our manpower from the hand labor it took to make and clean parts to assembly work instead. As a result we’ve increased output, stepped up assembly time and cut fabrication time by weeks for some components.”

Don't rely on it being preserved. Many repairs require Apple to replace or reformat the hard disk, which will result in the loss of your data. Please make sure you back up your data on a regular basis to minimize your data loss. Apple and its AASPs are not responsible for any damage to or loss of any applications, data, or other information stored on your MacBook Air while performing service.
Oct 31 Unable to launch game - Mojave 10.14.1 (beta) Hi all, I can't seem to launch WoW - I've uninstalled/reinstalled it and all that happens is, is the icon "bounces" in the tray for a bit, the launcher says the game is running and then nothing else happens, no splash screen, anything. I'm on Mojave 10.14.1 (beta) (not sure why, I opted out of the beta). 2018 MBP w/ Touchbar.Daefish2	Oct 31

Systems developers are finding the Apple technologies to be a powerful option for providing network solutions. From a single user, one operating system personal computer, OS X has expanded to serve just about every type of network content available and host multiple operating systems. Powerful system command and scripting languages like Perl and AppleScript allow administrators and users to provide system level solutions in a fraction of the time it would require to develop application level solutions.

In addition to onsite hardware coverage, you can repair up to 2 percent of your covered Mac computers, or up to 5 percent of your covered iPad or iPhone devices, for any reason. So if an employee accidentally damages a device, AppleCare for Enterprise can cover that, too. In most cases, Apple can repair or replace the device within one business day.
At the launch of the MacBook Air in January 2008, Apple claimed it to be the thinnest laptop in the world. While this was true of laptops on sale at the time, the 2003 Sharp Actius MM10 Muramasas was thinner at some points than the Macbook Air, being 0.54 inches (14 mm) thick at its minimum.[24] It, like the MacBook Air, was a tapered design, with a maximum height of 0.78 inches (19.8 mm) —slightly thicker than the MacBook Air — shown above as 0.76 inches (19.3 mm).[25] The Sony Vaio X505, released in 2004, had a minimum thickness of 0.38 inches (10 mm) and a maximum of 0.8 inches (20.3 mm).[26]
This product has been awesome so far. Was very easy to set up, and it works a lot faster then my windows does on the poor internet service we have. It has met all my expectations, and I love the fact I got 5 years apple tech with it. Thanks HSN for the great offer, and the chance to finally own a Mac. For me apple program is a lot easier to work with. A lot less fuss and waiting on programs to open and web pages to load.
Nov 4 Classic demo won't launch (solved) I'm having trouble launching the Blizzcon demo client. I've tried multiple reinstalls of the game and also reinstalling the entire Battle.net client, however it seems to stick on "World of Warcraft is performing initial setup of required game files". Is there something I'm missing? Mojave 10.14.1, iMac 18,3Incaely11 Nov 4

Nov 12 nVidia Boot screens on Mojave This bodes ... interesting. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/rtx-series-cards-have-native-bootscreen-support.2148023 Seems the new nVidia RTX cards, if installed on Mojave, have boot screens stock -- no flashing required. There are no drivers available for these cards on Mac OS, but there are fairly reliable reports of Mac OS functional boot screens. Lends a lot of credence to the reports that nVidia is actually working on drivers for the Mac for the new cards. As one person with a Mac Pro 5,1 commented in the thread, this seems to be the year to write a letter to Santa Claus as apparently it might just work. First Mojave support, then NVMe support, and now this.Sagerremeseb20 Nov 12
